I have never really come around to like Captain Tsubasa or any other "sport-based" animé series. Guess I'm your regular horror-drama-yaoi-mecha kind of former-otaku. However, pulling a scen and finding sense in it for many other things... I can relate to. Not like you can find the meaning for everything and the answers to life in animé, we know that's for "certain losers we happen to know", but it is an intelligent excersize to be able to find more than just doodles amusing you, and find the philosophy and the related topics.
You've been in Japan almost a week and we haven't heard from you. I hope that's because you are having an incredible time, so get your camera, make pictures, because I want and demand to see evidence of fun! (Picture the boys and the girls too, so I can envy you more!)
